On the breath of the wind,
you were carried away,
like cottonwood in the spring.
Your sunset came too soon,
yet was greeted on the distant horizon
by the beautiful rays of light that created your life
and now guide you home.
Vibrant colors give splendor to your night
and adorn a lonely sky that will no longer look upon your days.
Shadows sadly lay still – never again to clothe you with their presence,
yet tomorrow the sun will still rise and the mourning doves
will sing your name as they welcome a new day.
